Here is where you will find weekly updates... I will try and have this site updated by Wednesday each week. If you need further clarification about the assignments, or when assignments are due, please email me. 1/8-1/12 Welcome back from the Winter Weather and the Holiday Break! This week we will finally do our lab starting on Tuesday and Wednesday and the Lab report will be due on Friday. On Monday we will be finishing "Resistance", the documentary. 12/11-12/15 Journals, and chemistry review stations will be collected on Tuesday as well as Students will be taking their Chemistry Unit Test. On Wednesday we will be starting a lab where we will evaluate the differences of chemical and physical reactions between common household objects. 11/27-12/1 I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and welcome back! This week we will be learning about chemical equations which we started before the break. Please make sure that your journals are being kept up to date!!!!! (Check to the right to make sure you have everything!!!) I will be grabbing these when you take the Unit Test. This week students will need to look up 2 articles. One article about chemistry and one article about a chemist. 11/20-11/21 On Monday, we will be having an OPEN NOT TEST on the Periodic Table. Tuesday will be an opportunity for students to work on missing work or working on extra credit as needed. Hope you have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! 11/13- 11/16 This week we will be diving into the Periodic Table. On Monday we will start reading the notes and information and on Wednesday we will start to apply what we read about the periodic table. Next Monday, we will have an OPEN NOTE test on the periodic table. Due: Parts of the Periodic Table in Journal Colored and Labeled Periodic Table in Journal 10/16-10/20 Monday and Tuesday will be catch up days to get caught up on the notes that were assigned as homework. I will be giving back their science journals this week, the grades will be given back separately. When they get back their journals all the assignments should be put into the journal check the journal assignments link to the side. We will be continuing learning about our new chemistry. Check google classroom for an extra credit opportunity! Due: Lab Report - Monday 10/9-10/13 On Monday and possibly Tuesday, we will be doing a lab. Students must have the prelab complete PRIOR to the lab, or they will not be allowed to participate. We will work on the lab report Tuesday and Wednesday and possibly Thursday. The lab report will be due on Friday. For the results section, a picture of the strips needs to be inserted into the document and the drawing section of the results page. If students have laptops at home, PLEASE bring them in this week, starting on Tuesday!! Homework - Students need to watch the video posted on google classroom and complete the guided notes for it. This is due on Wednesday. On Wednesday, they will receive their textbook information for notes that will be due on Monday. 8/21-8/24 SOLAR ECLIPSE IS MONDAY!!!! Please view it safely!!! Also the fish had babies over track out!!! They are so small! By my count, I saw 4, but 3 this morning. This week we will be starting our sub unit on Water Quality in the Hydrosphere unit. Graded papers will be passed out this week and grades will be updated by the end of the week. Due: Tuesday - Solar Eclispe Webquest and Crossword puzzle 7/24-7/28 This week we will focusing on how water is distributed throughout the planet. We will also be presenting the performance tasks on Monday. Due: Design your own experiment mini project (Monday, through Google Classroom Only) Warm Up journal and DHMO annotated bibliography in journal (Friday, This will NOT be accepted late. Please turn this in early if you are not planning on being at school on Friday.) 7/17-7/21 This week, we will be starting our first unit about the Hydrosphere. We are focusing on what makes water so special. Students will be completing a task in class where they will be researching about one of the properties of water and are asked to create a final product to present in class. Students are also being asked to design their own experiment at home. Due: Properties class task (Friday through Google Classroom only) Design your own experiment mini project (Monday, through Google Classroom Only) 7/10-7/14 This week we will be starting our unit on the Hydrosphere. Please make sure that you review the syllabus and returned with student and parent signatures before Friday, (earlier returns means tickets!). Also, I will be having Guppies in my room for educational purposes, if you would not like your child to interact with the fish, please make sure that you sign and return the form that will prohibit your child from interacting with the fish. Please note, that just because your student will not be allowed to interact with the fish, will not excuse them from the graded assignments that correlate with the fish. (See the syllabus for more information) Due: Friday- Signed Syllabus, Water Cycle Scavenger Hunt (Resource in Google Classroom) |
